A Rainy Day in Greenwich to see Westlife
Thursday June 7th during the day went to Greenwich, which is on the east side of London. It actually is one of my favourite areas of the city. It has a lovely maritime feel to it and is filled with history. (fun fact! King Henry VIII and Elizabeth I were born in Greenwich!) Plus it is home to the Prime Meridian. We went to the Maritime History Museum and the beautiful, underrated Queen’s House, which is famous for its ‘Tulip’ staircase. The great thing about these places is that they are completely FREE!
We then headed up the steep hill to Greenwich Park, where you can see the Prime Meridian and have a beautiful view of Canary Wharf and the O2 Arena (which has a special meaning to us that day, but I’ll get to that later!) That day was actually filled with rain. It didn’t really bother us, except for cold soaking feet. We had a lovely dinner at a pub where I had my Fish and Chips and yes, mushy peas….yum! Then had a quick dessert at McDonalds because….they have TWIX McFlurries!!!

Anywho….Even though we had a great day our main purpose for coming to Greenwich was to go see my favourite band of all time….Westlife! Yes, after years of being a massive fan and years of yearning and praying for them to come to Canada I finally got to see them in concert. It was bittersweet however, because it was my first Westlife concert but the thing is, after 14 years of being a band….they have decided to part ways….yes, very sad I know. So we made our way to the O2 Arena, after some delay with the DLR, and started our Westlife Concert experience, starting with me getting my Westlife merch!
The concert was absolutely Fantastic! Each song they sang was amazing. Especially ‘My Love,’ ‘Uptown Girl’ (with an adorable dance to go with it), ‘Seasons in the Sun’ and topping it off with ‘You Raise Me Up’ and the “it-gave-me-goosebumps” Flying Without Wings. The boys (especially Shane) looked and sounded amazing! I honestly had the time of my life. And I’m not going to lie, but I did tear up a little when they said their goodbyes and thank you’s. Westlife, you rocked my socks and I can finally take you of my Bucket List.
